In the course of the project, the bwCard Federation was set up, which enables the participating institutions to reliably integrate chip cards from the other institution into their own digital processes and services. The necessary infrastructure and common rules were created jointly.

The bwCard production community was also established, which offers the state's scientific institutions a simple and cost-effective way to issue their own smart cards by bundling know-how and infrastructure. This complies with the regulations of the bwCard Federation and also takes into account future developments, such as the European Student Card.
